Dentures can help restore function, but they are definitely not the same as teeth,especially lower dentures Upper dentures will normally stay in fine, but if you can maintain any teeth on bottom, you likely will be better off than with a full lower denture, which is much more difficult to keep in place.Upper dentures have generally a better fit,in spite of gravity,because of the seal created by the soft tissues of the lips,palate,and cheeks.The hard palate is a solid base for the stability of the denture.The lowers do not have the same seal because of the mobility of the floor of the mouth and tongue.Initial lower dentures may feel comfortable for a few years,but as the bone shrinks, the dentures often become loose,much to the frustration of the wearer.
